Yes, WordPress 4.2 was released last night. Let’s review some awesome updates in this version.
An easier way to share content with PressThis
PressThis is a tool that allow you re-blog a post. You can access Tools / Available Tools. I don’t care this tool before, but now I must, because with PressThis 4.2, I can share content with faster speed, ato setup featured image, pick description and categories / tags I want.
Extended character support
Writing in WordPress, whatever your language, just got better. WordPress 4.2 supports a host of new characters out-of-the-box, including native Chinese, Japanese, and Korean characters, musical and mathematical symbols, and hieroglyphs.
But I don’t use those characters, I am using English. But I like this update because it supports another thing that’s called “Emoji”, famous emoticon collection from mobile devices like below:

To use Emoji on Window 8, right click on Taskbar and choose Toolbar then opt in Touch Keyboard.
Now, you will see the virtual keyboard that contains an emoticon icon at the left bottom corner, just use it to insert emoji icons
To use Emoji on Mac OS, access menu Edit / Special Characters then choose the emoticon you want.
To use Emoji on other OS, you must copy emoticons from https://getemoji.com/.
Switch themes in the Customizer
You can switch theme directly in Appearance / Customize. What’s advantage? You can preview your installed themes from the Customizer and make sure a theme looks great with your content, before debut it on your site.
Streamlined plugin updates
Goodbye boring loading screen, hello smooth and simple plugin updates. Click Update Now and watch the magic happen without reload whole page.
Even more embeds
Paste links from Tumblr.com and Kickstarter and watch them magically appear right in the editor. With every release, your publishing and editing experience get closer together.
